China will boost investment on water-conservation projects this year as the country’s leaders seek to ensure safe supplies and reduce pollution, an official said.
Investment in 2015 will surpass last year’s total of about 488 billion yuan ($79 billion), Vice Minister of Water Resources Jiao Yong said at a briefing on Tuesday in Beijing. Almost half of the money will be spent on major water conservation projects and some will be used to supply drinking water for 60 million rural residents.
