Chad Army Says 54 Islamist Militants Killed in Nigeria Fighting

Troops from Chad and Niger killed 54 fighters from the Boko Haram Islamist group in a battle around a Nigerian village on Monday, Chad’s army said.
Two Chadian soldiers died and 15 others were injured in the clashes at Dalakam, near Nigeria’s border with Niger, according to a statement from the military read on Chadian national radio on Tuesday. The army also destroyed vehicles used by the militants, it said. There was no independent confirmation of the violence.
