Mogadishu Hotel Siege Ends as Islamist Attack Leaves 20 Dead

Somali troops killed six Islamist militants as they ended a siege at a popular hotel in the capital of Mogadishu that left at least 14 other people dead.
Four government soldiers, an American women originally from Somalia and the Somali ambassador to Switzerland were among those who died in the raid on Hotel Maka Al-Mukarrama, which started on Friday, Information Minister Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye told reporters at the hotel. Four died at the Medina Hospital, where 28 people had been admitted for injuries, Duniyo Mohamed, the center’s manager, said by phone.
