Francis Rooney, Buffett Inspiration to Buy Shoemaker, Dies at 93

Francis C. Rooney Jr., whose leadership of H.H. Brown Shoe Co. prompted Warren Buffett to buy the Massachusetts manufacturer in 1991 for Berkshire Hathaway Inc., has died. He was 93.
He died on March 24 at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut, his son, Michael F. Rooney, said in a telephone interview.
