Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s government posted its best opinion poll performance in six months as he drops unpopular policies and tries to shore up his authority after a leadership challenge.
The Liberal-National coalition narrowed the gap with the opposition Labor party to 2 percentage points on a two-party preferred basis in a Newspoll published in The Australian newspaper on Tuesday, from a 10-point margin two weeks ago.
