Fed’s Lockhart Still Sees June-September Rate Liftoff

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta President Dennis Lockhart said the U.S. central bank should begin to raise interest rates in the middle of this year or later, notwithstanding the impact of a stronger dollar.
“I think liftoff in one of the meetings starting in June through September represents appropriate policy, given what I can see today,” he told reporters after delivering a speech in Athens, Georgia on Friday. The Federal Open Market Committee has scheduled meetings in June, July and September.
