British Elections Are the Biggest Threat to the U.K. Recovery

The prospect that no one will win the general election in 51 days is casting a darkening shadow over the British economy.
Forty-eight percent of economists surveyed by Bloomberg cited political uncertainty as the biggest risk to the recovery, up from 43 percent a month ago. No other issue ranked higher. Separately, 76 percent said Britain’s record current-account deficit isn’t a significant threat to the pound.
