A Measure of Consumer Spending Is on a Major Tear

In recent weeks we've gotten a raft of mediocre data, as the U.S. economy continues to fall short of economist expectations. One reason that people haven't been too worried about the data is that it's been a brutal winter in large parts of the country, and that the weather has been dragging everything down.

This point was made just today by Bloomberg economist Carl Riccadonna in regards to Housing Starts, which fell well short of expectations. He added that we should see a snapback in March.
