Talks between the U.S. and Iran resumed Monday as diplomats worked to meet an end-of-March deadline for a deal to ensure the Persian Gulf country can’t acquire a nuclear weapon.

Ahead of his meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Lausanne, Switzerland, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that “important gaps” remained. “It may be that Iran simply can’t say yes to the kind of deal that the international community is looking for,” Kerry said at the weekend.
