Del Taco, the Mexican chain known for pairing tacos with french fries, will become a publicly traded company in an acquisition by restaurateur Larry Levy that values the business at $500 million.

As part of the transaction, Levy and other backers will invest $120 million in Del Taco, according to a statement Thursday. Levy’s firm, a so-called blank-check company in Chicago called Levy Acquisition Corp., will then change its name to Del Taco Restaurants Inc. and the entity will continue trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
