After a year in office, Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet says the economy has turned a corner and that she is “reasonably optimistic” increased fiscal spending will speed up growth through 2015.

“The latest signs we have seen are encouraging,” Bachelet said during an interview on the eve of the first anniversary of her swearing-in to an unprecedented second term. “We are seeing some recovery.”
