U.S. Urging China to Halt Rules for Turnover of Bank Technology

President Barack Obama’s top trade and diplomatic officials have asked China to reconsider proposed rules governing banking technology, saying they put foreign companies at a disadvantage and violate trade commitments.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker and U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman have each expressed concerns to the Chinese government over the rules, according to an administration official who asked for anonymity to discuss the diplomatic exchanges.
