The Bank of England needs you. And it's running a contest with cash prizes to prove it.

Governor Mark Carney announced two competitions yesterday, as he delivered the opening remarks at a conference to introduce a big new push to open up and improve the BOE's research. The prize for each is £5,000 ($7,767).

The first will be for data visualization using the bank's newly-available data sets on a range of subjects, from household surveys to quantitative easing. The second is the first focused on a topic from the BOE research agenda. This year's theme: ``the interaction between microprudential, macroprudential and/or monetary policy.''
