Thailand’s Criminal Court sentenced two theater activists to 30 months in jail for taking part in a play deemed an insult to the nation’s monarchy.
The two -- a 24-year-old male student and a 27-year-old female activist -- were part of a group that put on the play “The Wolf Bride,” about a fictional king and his adviser. The play was staged at Bangkok’s Thammasat University in October 2013 as part of the 40th anniversary commemoration of a student-led uprising against military rule.
