New Jersey Governor Chris Christie must work with lawmakers to fill a $1.57 billion gap in payments to the state pension system, a judge ordered while decrying the failure to address a looming crisis.

Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson sided with hundreds of thousands of government workers, who sued the Christie administration for its failure to make the $2.25 billion payment needed to fully fund the pension system.
