At least 69 people, including eight children, died after a passenger boat sank in Bangladesh on Sunday in the nation’s second deadliest ferry disaster in almost seven months.
The MV Mostafa was struck by a cargo trawler in the Padma River 10 minutes after embarking on its 30-minute journey to cross one of the country’s widest and deepest rivers, Rashida Ferdous, deputy commissioner of Manikganj district, said by phone on Monday. At least four people are still missing as divers continued search efforts, she said.
