Defense Chief Looks Beyond Pentagon to Review IS Strategy

Barely a week into his new job, U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter is seeking advice beyond the Pentagon to assess strategy on the campaign to defeat Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria.

Carter, after a two-day visit to Afghanistan, arrived Sunday in Kuwait for a daylong policy review tomorrow that will bring together U.S. military, State Department and intelligence officials.
