Hungary’s Orban Gets Cold Shoulder in Poland After Russian Deal

Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz invoked her country’s shared past with Hungary in enduring Russian oppression as she tried to rally support for European unity in the face of the conflict in neighboring Ukraine.
Kopacz said she had a “frank and difficult” conversation with her Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban during a meeting in Warsaw on Thursday. In brief statements after the talks, Kopacz recalled that “a Russian general quashed” 19th-century uprisings in both countries.
