The Ukrainian peace accord struck Thursday in Belarus stems from one simple demand: an end to the fighting between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russian separatists that’s killed thousands of people.
Beyond that, the agreement hammered out in Minsk by the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France to end the 10-month conflict expands on a failed truce dating back to Sept. 5. “It wasn’t easy,” Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told reporters. “We were presented with various unacceptable conditions.”
