Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Sports bought the U.S. broadcast rights to the 2026 World Cup after trying to prevent the 2022 edition of the soccer tournament from being moved to the northern hemisphere’s winter months.
Fox and Telemundo, the Spanish unit of Comcast Corp.’s NBC Universal, acquired the U.S. rights for the 2026 World Cup and other events, including the Women’s World Cup and beach soccer, for an undisclosed sum.
