Leshi Internet Information & Technology (Beijing) Co., a maker of Web-enabled TVs, said it would invest billions of dollars into developing an electric car, with plans to sell in the U.S. before its home market of China.
Leshi plans to hire more people to bolster its team of about 260 working on electric cars, Allen Lu, the newly appointed head of Leshi’s vehicle business in China, said in a phone interview. The Beijing-based company is also in talks with investors about funding the project, which it sees as a long-term investment, Lu said, declining to be more specific.
