Space Exploration Technologies Corp., also known as SpaceX, secured leasing rights to the first-ever “landing pad” at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
SpaceX will transform the pad, which had historically been used for launching Atlas missiles, into a facility suitable for the return of first-stage boosters, according to a statement issued by the Patrick Air Force Base Tuesday. The leasing agreement is for five years.
