Nigeria’s main opposition party denounced the decision to postpone elections because of spreading Islamist attacks as a setback for democracy, while appealing to supporters to respond calmly.
The All Progressives Congress party, which is fielding Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate, described the decision as “highly provocative.” Buhari said on Sunday that he felt “disappointment and frustration,” and warned that further postponements won’t be tolerated.
