Google Downplays the Importance of the Web Browser Search Box, Which Is Crazy
A Google executive says people will take the extra effort to find "wonderful products that are magical," but the numbers aren't in his favor

Let's say you want to find out what time the Super Bowl starts. Do you go to Google.com or Yahoo.com and then type "super bowl time" into the search box on the page? Probably not. You put it into the box at the top of your Web browser and hit enter.
Patrick Pichette, Google's chief financial officer, says people can change. On Thursday's earnings call, he suggested that people will seek out Google's search engine even if their browsers default to a different one.
