SS&C Technologies Holdings Inc., a provider of software for the financial services industry, is seeking to acquire Advent Software Inc., according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

SS&C is interested in acquiring Advent for around $45 a share, the person said, asking not to be identified discussing private information. Advent jumped 10 percent to $41.63 today, giving it a market value of about $2.2 billion. SS&C climbed 2 percent, for a market value of about $4.7 billion.
