Two Israeli soldiers were killed when Hezbollah militants fired an anti-tank missile at their convoy, amid the most serious clashes on Israel’s northern border since the two sides fought a war in 2006.

Israeli aircraft and artillery struck Hezbollah positions late on Wednesday, and the Iranian-backed Shiite militia fired shells at Israeli targets along the frontier, the army said. A Spanish soldier with the United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon died in earlier exchanges.
