U.K. Health Service Risks Crisis as Election Approaches

The U.K.’s National Health Service, a key battleground in this year’s general election, risks sliding into crisis as waiting times lengthen and finances worsen, a report said today.

Cancer patients receiving treatment within the target of 62 days fell to a record low last year and the proportion of inpatients waiting longer than the target of 18 weeks rose to a record high, the King’s Fund, a health charity, said in its quarterly report.
