Stephanie Roche’s long-range goal in an Irish women’s league match was classed alongside some of the best scored at last year’s World Cup in Brazil. Her pay can’t compete with the men, however.

Roche -- the first female among the three finalists for the annual award -- finished second tonight to Colombia’s James Rodriguez, who got 42 percent of the vote.
