Brazilian policy makers expect to bring inflation to the center of the government-set target range in December 2016, as fiscal tightening will help monetary policy, central bank President Alexandre Tombini said.
Annual consumer price increases have run above the center of the target for the past four years. The promise of appointed Finance Minister Joaquim Levy to reduce spending allows the central bank to foresee a more benign inflation scenario in two years, Tombini told reporters in Brasilia today
