Bank of England Governor Mark Carney and his chief economist, Andy Haldane, indicated they are focused on downside risks to inflation as the central bank emphasizes the reasons for keeping loose monetary policy.

“We’ve got huge disinflationary forces coming from our trade partners, particularly in Europe, and commodity prices have gone down quite sharply,” Carney said in an interview with The Australian newspaper. With consumer-price growth below the BOE’s target, Haldane said in a speech published yesterday he’s watching developments “like a dove.”
