Republican Rauner Wins in Illinois, Obama’s Home State

Venture capitalist Bruce Rauner became the first Republican elected governor of Illinois since 1998 as voters expressed frustration with the state’s cratering finances.
Rauner, 58, defeated Governor Pat Quinn, a Democrat, by 50.8 percent to 45.8 percent, with all but 1 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press said.
