A suicide bombing in northeastern Nigeria killed at least 26 people, a day after gunmen attacked a jail in the central state of Kogi, freeing more than 100 inmates.

A suspected member of the Boko Haram militant group detonated a bomb during a procession of Shiite Muslims marking the Ashura festival in the town of Potiskum in Yobe state at about 10:30 a.m. today, Mohammed Abubakar, a resident, said by phone.
