Canadian Pacific Pushes for Mergers After CSX Talks End

Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. said exploratory talks have ended on a possible merger with CSX Corp. to form a transcontinental railroad, while signaling it will keep pushing for consolidation.

Chief Executive Officer Hunter Harrison scheduled a conference call tomorrow after the company’s third-quarter earnings report to discuss mergers and acquisitions. His overtures to CSX, the largest eastern U.S. railroad, were rebuffed, people familiar with the matter said last week.
