Virginia Gay Wedding Ban Third Tossed by Appeals Courts

A second federal appeals court in two months has ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, deeming Virginia’s ban on such unions unconstitutional in an extension of court victories for gay couples coast to coast.

The finding today in Richmond, Virginia, is the third decision by a U.S. court of appeals upholding lower court rulings favoring gay marriage. The appeals court in Denver in back-to-back decisions this month and in June refused to revive bans in Utah and Oklahoma.
