Hess Collection Boosts National Structure for U.S. Sales

May 12 (Bloomberg) -- The Hess Collection said it will strengthen the focus of its U.S. wine sales force, moving Vice Presidents Brian Batridge and Chris Ireland into broader roles as National Sales Director Jill Goodrich-Collas steps down.

Ireland, who led the Eastern division sales team, will head up a National Accounts division focused on on-premise and chain retail sales, while Batridge, who led the Central division, will be responsible for National Field Sales and teams based in the northeast, southeast, center and west of the country, Hess said in a statement on Business Wire. Both will report to Chief Executive Officer Timothy Persson.

The moves come after Hess recently appointed its first California state manager to take control of one of its major markets. The Hess Collection Winery, based in Napa, California, was founded by Donald Hess with a vineyard on Mount Veeder in 1978, and now owns more than 1,034 acres (418 hectares) of California vineyards, including 704 acres in the Napa Valley, according to its website.

Hess Family Wine Estates owns The Hess Collection Winery as well as vineyards including Amalaya and Colome in Argentina’s Calchaqui Valley, Artezin in Napa Valley, Glen Carlou in South Africa’s Paarl Valley, MacPhail Family Wines in Healdsburg, California, Sequana in California’s Russian River Valley and Peter Lehmann Wines in Australia’s Barossa Valley, according to the company’s website.

Hess Family Wine Estates is a family-owned enterprise based in Liebefeld, Switzerland and dating back to 1844. Apart from wine, its businesses include properties and hospitality and contemporary art.
