Daihatsu Motor Co., Japan’s largest maker of minicars, expects to widen its lead and reach its market-share target three years ahead of schedule on demand for cars such as the Mira e:S, according to a company document.
The company may raise its share of Japan’s minicar market to 40 percent this year, versus an earlier schedule of 2015, according to a copy of material distributed to Daihatsu dealers in January and obtained by Bloomberg. Mako Adachi, a spokeswoman at the Toyota Motor Corp. unit, confirmed the document’s authenticity.
