Calderon Proposes Spending Increase, Smaller Deficit

Mexican President Felipe Calderon proposed higher spending and a smaller deficit in next year’s budget as the country recovers from its worst recession since the 1930s.
The government proposed total spending of 3.35 trillion pesos ($257 billion) next year, an increase of 2.3 percent in real terms compared with 2010, the Finance Ministry said in a statement. Spending would increase 5.5 percent in nominal terms.
