Arrest of Indonesian Anti-Corruption Official Sparks Protest

Indonesia’s police arrested a board member of the country’s Corruption Eradication Commission, 10 days after the anti-graft agency named President Joko Widodo’s choice for policy chief as a suspect.

The police’s criminal investigation unit arrested Bambang Widjojanto, a commissioner at the anti-graft agency known as the KPK, on charges of ordering witnesses to give false testimony in a court case related to a local election in 2010, Inspector General Ronny Sompie told reporters today. The police have agreed to release Widjojanto, Commissioner Adnan Pandu Praja told reporters.
