Israel Boosts Golan Defenses as Hezbollah Buries Strike Dead

Israel boosted defenses along its northern frontier, anticipating retaliation for an airstrike that killed six Lebanese Hezbollah militants and a general with Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards.
Hezbollah and its patron, Iran, accused Israel of carrying out the Jan. 18 attack on Syria, and the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards today vowed a “devastating” response. While Israel hasn’t confirmed or denied involvement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel “is adamant that it will have the right to defend itself against all those who wish to propagate terror and other attacks against its citizens.”
