Israel boosted defenses along its northern frontier, anticipating retaliation for an airstrike that killed six Lebanese Hezbollah militants and a general with Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards.

Hezbollah and its patron, Iran, accused Israel of carrying out the Jan. 18 attack on Syria, and the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards today vowed a “devastating” response.
