U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Bulgaria at NATO’s eastern edgeBloomberg Terminal today to press the country to reduce its almost total dependence on energy from Russia and warned against Russian retaliation.

The push for energy independence is “not directed against any country,” Kerry said at a press conference today, “it’s simply a reality -- no country in the world should be totally dependent for its energy supply on one other country. The United States is prepared to help Bulgaria which has made difficult decisions in order to try to protect its energy future.”
