NATO Executive Kitarovic Wins Croatian Presidency

Croatian opposition candidate Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, a NATO executive, won the presidential election in a runoff victory over incumbent Ivo Josipovic, putting pressure on the ruling coalition.
Kitarovic, an assistant secretary general at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization who was backed by the main opposition party, Croatian Democratic Union, got 50.74 percent in yesterday’s vote, the election committee in Zagreb said on its website today after 99.98 percent of polling stations reported. Josipovic, who had 49.26 percent, conceded defeat.
