Geena Davis, the Oscar-winning actress, has teamed up with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and theater chain AMC on a film festival to promote women and diversity in the movies.
In an unusual benefit, the event will guarantee a traditional theatrical release and home entertainment distribution for films that win awards. The festival is scheduled for May 5-9 at Bentonville, Arkansas, the home of Wal-Mart, and is also backed by Coca-Cola Co. and Kraft Foods Group Inc.
