Guinea Labor Unions Begin General Strike Over Wage Demands

Six labor unions in Guinea began a general strike to demand a fourfold increase in pay after talks with the government failed.
“Talks and the strike continues,” Amadou Diallo, secretary general of Confederation Nationale Travailleurs de Guinee, or CNTG, told reporters in the capital Conakry. “The strike is not synonymic of violence in the street, that is why we ask workers to stay at home.”
