Thomas Piketty, the French economist whose 2013 book on wealth inequality became an international best seller, urged governments across Scandinavia to reassess efforts to boost competitiveness through tax cuts.

“The extreme international competition to attract investment, to attract income and high-wealth individuals can be quite damaging in the long run,” he said in an interview yesterday in Oslo. “Ultimately, this is damaging the overall social fabric.”
