Israeli Settlement Backers Set to Gain in Election, Bennett Says

Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett said his wing of the outgoing coalition government, which backs Jewish settlements and opposes a Palestinian state, will emerge strengthened from March elections.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the early vote last week, breaking up his bickering coalition less than halfway through its four-year term. Bennett, whose Jewish Home group is tipped to gain seats, said peace talks aren’t a priority and Israel’s war with Gaza Strip militants in July and August has shifted public opinion toward his party’s views.
