Labor-market slack is disappearing faster than the headline unemployment rate might suggest.
The unchanged jobless rate, at 5.8 percent in November, and steady workforce participation at 62.8 percent belie improvement in statistics including the number of part-time workers and long-term unemployed, according to data from the Labor Department released this morning.
