BOJ Easing Seen Boosting Chances Abe Will Raise Sales Tax

The Bank of Japan’s extra stimulus increases the chances of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe going ahead with a plan to raise the nation’s sales tax, a survey by Bloomberg News shows.
Nine of 10 economists responding after the central bank’s surprise move on Oct. 31 expect Abe to increase the levy, which is currently 8 percent after a 3 percentage-point bump in April.
