Patent Offices Seek to Plug Global System's Black Holes

The heads of two of the largest patent agencies said they are making progress toward a more globally cohesive system that will help companies better protect their inventions and avoid lawsuits.

The goal is to save the time it takes to review applications and improve the quality of the issued patent, European Patent Office President Benoit Battistelli, said in an interview in Washington today.
