Aereo Barred by U.S. Judge From Retransmitting Programs

Aereo Inc. was barred from streaming live television to subscribers, as the start-up struggles to survive in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that it violates broadcasters’ copyrights.

U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan in New York today granted the TV networks’ request for a temporary order blocking Aereo’s service nationwide. She also said it doesn’t matter whether a ban would harm the company, which is backed by billionaire Barry Diller.
