Soccer’s governing body banned the president of the sport’s Mongolian federation for five years for violating its ethics code by taking funds from a FIFA presidential candidate in 2009 and 2011.

Ganbold Buyannemekh will be banned from any soccer-related post, FIFA said today in an e-mailed statement. The body said Buyannemekh solicited and accepted payments from Mohamed bin Hammam during the 2009 election of the FIFA executive committee and the 2011 vote for president.
